mean to be an orphan?
advantage.
when I read the book Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship by
Jack Frost. I thought I had dealt with all of my junk back then.
this thinking and behavior.
in all?….or do you search for counterfeit affections to
feed your hunger for love?
I definitely showed signs of the
latter.
- I looked to people for
attention and affirmation.
- I hoarded my possessions, what
little I still had, compared to before I became a missionary.
In the process of God revealing these
things to me, He randomly took me to a free e-book online called
Love Hunger.
This book stated that if you don’t have a certainty about 4 things in your life, things can only be found in
fullness in the Lord, then you will revert to counterfeit
affections to feed the love hunger inside of you. Love hunger WILL
NOT be ignored and MUST be fed.
-
If we don’t encounter
expressed, unconditional love in our lives, then we go to passion.
This is where lust comes in, this is where we feel the need to
sleep around, and why we put sex on a pedestal in our lives. We are
trying to feed that hunger in us, in all of the wrong, empty places.
-
If we don’t encounter affection
and affirmation in our lives, then we seek position. How
many of us have striven to be the best, or in my case, even used my
beliefs and position as a missionary to bring attention to myself
and not to God. ( Father forgive me).
-
If we don’t encounter safety
and security in our lives, we turn to possessions. We think that
having these things will keep us secure (insurance, health benefits,
retirement). Did we need these things when we walked in the garden
with God? If He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then He
is our Provider now as He was back then. I know personally, in my
own orphan thinking, I didn’t trust Him fully to take care of my
needs. So I hoarded what I had, thinking that if I didn’t care of
myself, who would? The Word says, He keeps us as the apple of His
eye. Psalm 17:8
-
If we don’t encounter a purpose
for living, then we turn to power. In our culture, it’s do
whatever to get to the top. It doesn’t matter who you hurt or step
all over in the process. Or how many of us have used manipulation or
control? Our purpose for living is to be loved by God. That is why
He calls us the BeLoved. We were made to love Him in return
and to worship Him. That is the reason we exist!
So how did I get rid of this orphan
thinking?
I repented….
then I asked God to heal me of my
wounds.
spirit of adoption.
We can’t force ourselves to stop
behaving a way that we have our entire lives. It can only be done
by the power of His loving Holy Spirit.
Thank you Jesus!
