My squad mate Rose wakes me up. It’s 4am. Its our turn to pray during our all night prayer vigil to restore health to our squad. I stretch and get up slowly. I am having the best night sleep I have had since arriving in Peru. I am also sleeping on my sleeping pad outside on the concrete walkway that leads to our rooms. The breeze is cool and refreshing and my body can rest easy outside under the stars. It is much nicer to sleep outside then in the stuffy room that has bunk beds enough for 20 girls. It’s peaceful and calming sleeping out on the ground. I can curl up and drift into a beautiful dreamland. But not now. Now, it’s time to pray. Within 24 hours, almost 15 people on our squad were very sick. 4 had to go to the hospital, 3 of which are on my team. Our squad cannot seem to keep sickness away and we keep having to send people to the hospital. But we believe in the power of prayer!

As the day went on, more of my team became sick. Although they did not need a hospital, they were not up for ministry. Sleep and rest was all they could do! But I went on, as a team of one, checking on my teammates, caring for them and doing VBS. I had to get other people to help me with the craft but on P Squad, you are never left alone, people are always ready to love on each other and help each other out!

By the afternoon my teammates were back from the hospital! Praise the Lord for His healing and goodness! Some of my teammates are still healing but for one day I was the only healthy one! I loved taking care of them and loving on them. Thankfully the Squad pulled together to make VBS happen even if we were down a lot of people. Ministry went on as normal as possible. It was another day of the World Race, embracing the unexpected and serving each other as well as God.

When sickness hits, P Squad prays. God has the power to heal and in these countries in which we are ministering, sickness can be a very real problem. We must believe strongly in the power of healing.

As of now, we still have people who are healing and there is still a little sickness within the Squad. By the grace of God I have not been sick and I am so thankful for that! I will sleep tonight as I have been since he sickness hit, outside, under the stars, feeling the breeze on my face, drifting off to sleep in the cool of the night, embracing every moment of the World Race.
