I spent 10 days in the red Georgia dirt training for the World Race and it was simultaneously exhausting and energizing. Here’s a little sneak peak into why training camp is one of the most memorable experiences of my life
Trading Camp is:
Eating crickets, but missing the announcement they are in the shellfish family. If you’re allergic to shellfish, you WILL break out in hives.
Meeting 54 strangers and in the course of 10 days becoming family
Taking an ice cold bucket shower at 7 in the morning when you can see your breath because you love your team enough to embrace the cold so they don’t have to embrace your smell
Living in a tent community with your new family and never feeling so free as when you are living with less than you’ve ever had
Getting hurt and asking each other “should we get an adult??” and realizing you are the adults
Worshiping so hard you lose your voice and your muscles hurt from dancing with all you have
Crying at every session 5 days in a row and wondering how the speakers could deliver so much truth, and wondering what on earth else there could be, then there’s more and you’re crying all over again
Learning to listen to the voice of the Lord
Understanding how Satan will appear whenever you are vulnerable, and the necessity of knowing what truth the Lord speaks over you so you can combat the lies of the Devil
Forgiving people you had no idea you needed to forgive, then feeling freedom you never knew was possible
Embracing what it means to be fully broken so the Lord can become the only thing you have, which ends up being all you ever really needed
Becoming vulnerable, because talking about everything you’ve kept hidden brings it out in the open and it no longer holds power
The realization that you are leaving in 2 months and this is actually happening
