Month 1 – China

Hey everyone! I’m happy to say I am writing this blog post from a small Coffee shop in the town of our ministry location this month – a small mountain city in South West China with a large Tibetan population, and fireworks that go off 5 times a day.

After 5 travel days: A 14 hour plane ride, an 18 hour plane ride, and then a 4 hour car ride it feels amazing to breathe in the fresh mountain air and know my team is home for the next three weeks. As busy as this month has been the World Race has already been an adventure; from the language barrier, to getting to see a large part of the mountainous China landscape- its hard to believe this is just the beginning.

If your wondering what our ministry task is this month, great question:)

This month looks slightly different than our future months will look like with ‘set-out’ work hours. Our task is to build relationships with locals in town – which is challenging and SWEET. It is challenging in the sense we have to create our own schedule for the month.

1. We get to to dig into Tibetan Culture
2. We are already building relationships
3. Most importantly we have to listen to the Holy Spirit daily, hourly… its stretching, and comforting.

Our team was blessed to meet with a team of four of Adventure’s in Missions ‘Kingdom Journeys’ guys, who are also World Race alumni. Their team is spending 3 months in China and 3 months in India. It was cool to work with them on the tail end of their time in here in China. Not only have they learned quite a bit of the culture and language, but they have formed relationships in the town we are living in, and began to plant seeds for sharing Jesus’s love. This is great as our team is able to ‘piggy back’ off some of these relationships. There are several coffee shops/ restaurant owners that are already expecting us, and are excited to learn English, and inversely we are excited to learn Tibetan!

Walking with the Holy Spirit individually is one thing, walking in the Holy Spirit as a team is a new discipline, stretching and has already helped deepen our relationship as a team.

I am happy to say this is just the beginning:)
