Back in July, my host mama, Lori, preached a message on what it looks like to be a fan of God. She talked about die-hard fans and what that looks like in sports terms, and compared it with our dedication and passion for the Lord and what He is doing.

It was such a beautiful message, but the Lord had something different to tell me. This is for my fellow team leaders, and anyone who is in any kind of leadership position. I hope these words will encourage, motivate, and inspire you as they did me.

My dearest Team Captain,

You are a player. You run and score goals. You get tired. You get pushed. You get injured. You make bad calls.

You switch teammates in and out during the game. You are never alone, even when you have new players with you.

You have an arena full of fans. They know all about you. They watch you, they know your story, they see your mistakes. But they cheer you on. They talk to their friends about you. They wear your name. They are proud, excited, and overjoyed to watch you play.

When you fall. When you don’t win. They grieve with you. But they know, you’ll get them next time. Because that’s the kind of player you were created to be.

You are valuable. You are a star. You shine. You are adored, admired, and loved.

Run. Run hard. Get dirty. Don’t be afraid to trip, fall, or get hurt. It will all be worth it.

You are not in this alone. Your team needs you. Your Coach wants you. This game is your gift, your calling.

This game isn’t about you. But it is for you. Make your Father proud. Play as hard and as passionately as your Coach. Practice, study, learn, dive in.

Play beyond your ability. Play with the supernatural power that is offered to you.

Encourage your team. Push them forward. Let them shine. Share your knowledge and teach them to be better than you.

You were built to inspire. So run with confidence. Go all in. Play to win. Your fans are watching, and they are waiting for you. Step up, step out. It’s game time.
