Welcome to October! It’s hard to believe that I am less than two weeks away from Training Camp. In a few short days I will pack up my bag, prepare to test out my gear, and mentally ready myself for the ever-popular “bucket shower”. I will meet my squad-mates, teammates, and leaders behind the World Race. I am told that the strangers I spend my week with will quickly become my family. I will get a taste of what my Race might look like. I am told I will be challenged physically, emotionally, and Spiritually. I have also been told to leave all expectations at the door.
These past few days have been crazy; filled with anticipation, disbelief, nerves, gratitude, and faith. Last week I put in my notice to give up my apartment. I’ve also been sorting through things to sell. While the thoughts of doubt creep in for small moments, I am amazed at the faith that persistently keeps me focused! IF this doesn’t work out; IF I don’t leave in January, I just gave up my home, I will have sold most of my things. That is a big deal.
However, in taking these big steps of faith, I am reminded of how far God has truly brought me in this past year—how much I have learned to trust Him. And, in doing so, I am doing what I’ve always dreamed of. I will be traveling to several different countries, all Spanish-speaking, to love people! I will be living out of a backpack and downsizing my possessions in order to gain perspective. I will be working with fellow missionaries (yes, I am a missionary!) to make a difference around the globe. I am living life. My bucket list is going to have many check marks and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
This past week I came across this song. It’s a new favorite, for sure. It talks about how I want God to use me as a light. I want others to see Him through my life. I am so thankful for this opportunity. Not only that He would choose me for this Race, but that He would choose me as a vessel for His glory on a daily basis.
