So, there are a lot of things I want to blog about, to write about. I might just take some ideas to my other blog that I have completely abandon since this one started.
But for the last week God has been pounding into my heart the reminder to continually pray. And as I am not so great at praying for myself [I'm getting better] I have spending a lot of time talking to God about my squad mates.
You see,
I am getting to know them. Their personalities. their laughs, their hurts, the level at which they love coffee. And let me tell you this: I cannot WAIT for October. I feel blessed that I have already gotten to meet a couple of the girls from my squad and potentially could meet some others before then.
<—My squad. The night owl crew at least.
But until then, I am going to keep skyping, texting, facebooking, oovoo-ing [not google hangouting. dis-like.] and all other forms of media to get to know these people that I am SO exciting to do ministry with [and other crazy things: i.e. skydiving, great white shark tank diving…etc.]. [PS check them all out here: http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=participants&group=13W0102 ]
So here is a prayer for my Squad, for the leaders that will rise out of it, for the family, the friendship for the yet to be formed teams, [though don't worry, we have lots of names ready].
Heavenly Father,
Oh God, you knew all of us before we were formed. You knew the struggles we would have in life. You knew what steps we would take to get to this path. You just knew. Thank you for your knowledge, for your beautiful intricate plan that has brought us together.
You know that we might get to October, to January and already be a bit war-torn. I pray that you allow us rest when we have no time, you bring peace when there is nothing to hold onto. I pray that you open doors, you knock down walls, you bring courage and hope. I pray that no matter what we feel whenwe hit those deadlines that we trust you wholly.
God I know that we are a people that are broken, that we struggle with things in this world. I pray and ask on behalf of those in this family that you help us heal. That you remind us in you we are whole.
I pray for the finances of everyone on this squad. I ask God that you remind us DAILY that YOU can and WILL move mountains. Even when it seems so bleak and dark God, help us remember YOU and what YOU have done. Give us words to speak to talk to others about this adventure of hope you are sending us on.
I pray for the strong men of yours that you have placed in the midst of this squad. I pray that leading up this trip you strengthen them daily, more and more bringing them to you. More and more reminding them of who they are in you. Help them remember that you have given them their stories, their lives for a reason. That they are reaching out to people just by the story their lives tell. I thank you for the bond of brotherhood that will come out of doing ministry together.
I pray for the women on this team. I know you've placed us all on here whether we be loud, quiet, shy, outgoing . You have hand picked us. I thank you for that. I think you for our intertwining lives, for our balancing strengths and weaknesses. I pray that you remind us daily that we are created in your image. I pray that you help us fight off battles with insecurity, battles of comparison, issues of self esteem. I pray that we are able to be a group of women who constantly lift each other up out of the murk.
I pray that we all as brothers and sisters, as family in you, are able to be encouraging, that we are able to help lift each other up. That we can speak in love and in truth to one another. That we are able to help each other grow closer to you.
And lastly I pray for fun, for adventure, for laughter, for silliness, for stories, for inside jokes.
For unity and love.
Thank you Lord for these people. For this family that you have brought together. Let us remember that we are stronger with You and thank you for walking with us daily.
your loving, thankful daughter,
Megs
