I have never seen a volcano in real life, only pictures from text books.  But in the first week of being in Guatemala I have seen 4 volcanoes while driving down there road.  And I have even witnessed a few eruptions.  Wait a minute! I've only been in Guatemala for a week?!?!?!? WHAT THE HECK!?!?!

Freedom Volcano #1:  The first volcano started spitting ash when God started moved in the life of L-squadders.  Tuesday morning squad mates started confessing their past sins, abusive relationships, current sins, and then asked forgiveness and found it.  There were tears, there was laughter, there were prayers said, prayers answered, and broken hearts were mended, God was moving and wasn't stopping. This volcano is called FREEDOM!!

Fuego Volcano #2:  On Thursday my team, The Fire Starters went on a field trip.  We found out there was a conference for pastors in Guatemala called, 40 Days of Generosity in Antigua which is about 3 hours from where we are in Quiche.  So we went hoping to make some contacts for Unsung Heroes.  At one point I thought to myself that volcano looks funny, but I was too busy trying to not get car sick so I closed my eyes and ignored it.  At lunch we met another gentleman hoping to find contacts, and the first thing he said to us was, "Have you seen the erupting volcano?"  And sure enough from the balcony where we ate lunch we could watch the volcano.  One of the most amazing things I have ever seen.  Fuego Volcano means, "Volcano of Fire" which is kind of cool since we are the Fire Starters and on the day we arrive in the city the volcano erupts!!

Now back to Freedom Volcano:  All week this volcano has been spitting ashes everywhere but Friday night was the main event.  God has moved and people have responded all week to what God was calling them to do.  Friday night on of our squad  leaders, Carly had everyone fold a piece of paper in half and on the top half we wrote what we wanted to release for our past, something we didn't want to hold on to anymore, to no longer control us.  And other the other half of the paper we wrote the truths God speaks and declares in His Word about ourselves.  We stood one by one before the group and read the lies and past were we releasing.  Then we tore of that half and threw it in the bowl.  We declared truths over ourselves and kept those with us.  After everyone had gone, we set the bowl on fire.  That was the moment our Freedom Volcano erupted and the lava that poured out of us was lava of love, forgiveness, and peace.  FREEDOM rained down on all of us.  We stood there around the fire and sang, OUR CHAINS ARE GONE, I'VE BEEN SET FREE
