Every aspect of training camp is exciting…going in you are told to leave expectations at home.  There is no printed schedule handed out at check in, and you are told at meal time just enough information to get you to the next meal (so at least you know there will always be food, maybe not "good" food but food).  For me the most exciting part of camp is finally getting to meet everyone face to face that you've talked to on facebook for months!!  These are the strangers are instantly family! You've spent months talking on facebook, google hangouts, skype, texting, we are the generation of technology!!

And finally…the most exciting part of camp FINALLY comes!! The day teams are announced!! (You see, this is how the Race works.  There are over 300 people leaving in September (Passport and World Race).  These 300 are divided into smaller groups called squads.  I am in L squad, and there are about 70 of us.  Then we are divided into even smaller groups called teams.  There are 6-7 people on a team, this is your immediate family! These are the people you do life, ministry, and everything else with.  We will travel into a country together as a squad and then divide up into our teams and cover the country in ministry…basically.)

It is my pleasure to introduce to you my family!!  FIRE STARTERS!

Front Row (left to right): Andrew, Bryan.
Back Row (left to right): Me, Jackie (team leader), Kaitlyn, Sarah, and Jen

To me, the coolest thing about our team is none of us should have been on this squad, or on this team.  Sarah, Jen and myself all switched squads 3 days before training camp (and we are all 3 from NC-just a side note smiley).  Bryan switched squads right before camp as well.  Andrew was signed up to leave in July but delayed his trip.  When Kaitlyn applied for the Race, this route wasn't even and option, and Jackie applied 1 week before the deadline.  God has His hand all over our squad!!! I believe He has brought us all together for a special mission that only we can do, and it will take each one of us working together through Him to do it!

We decided on the name Fire Starters, because God has started a FIRE in our hearts and we have been called to go start FIRES in the nations!! Proclaiming Christ's love for everyone!

My favorite part of the day is when I get to talk to these beautiful people and pray with them for each other, for our squad, for all 300+ leaving in September, and for the lives we will come in contact with not just when we leave, but even now as we prepare to leave.  We launch in 20 days!!! I can't wait to see my family again face to face!!

If you haven't adopted our team yet, please do so NOW!!! Click on the link below and commit to praying for us everyday while we are gone!!
