One week.
One week of intensive orientations, break-out sessions learning the depths of safety and logistics on a day-to-day basis, scavenger hunts where we learned how to utilize public transportation and communicate with people in a country where we don’t know the language.
One week of crazy adventures such as zip-lining across the amazon, going to the equator learning about the indigenous people and straddling two hemispheres at one time, and trying tons of new and different foods that sometimes don’t agree with our bodies, but taste unbelievably delicious. #eatstreetanddie
One week of being surrounded by new people, anywhere from my college peers, R.C.’s, youthworld staff, and the Ecuadorians; but getting the opportunity to get to know them and their hearts and do life with them for the next 3.5 months
One week of waking up every morning to a breath-taking view of the city of Quito and the mountains and realizing I will never get sick of that view, and getting to spend that intentional time with Jesus engulfed by His divine creation.
One week of feeling unequipped, unprepared, and unqualified in a country where I don’t speak the language, don’t understand the culture, and don’t know the people….yet.
One week of more change than I’ve ever experienced in my life. And change is so, so good, but also scary. So while I sit in this place surrounded by newness; I look to Christ. I remember that even though everything around me is changing, He never changes.
“Jesus Christ is the same Yesterday, today, and forever”. Hebrews 13:8
And not only does He NEVER change. He also never leaves me. He is with me through this all and knows exactly what I need. He has prepared my heart for this trip and won’t abandon me here.
So, it’s been one week of being all in. Fully involved in this moment and this day that God has provided.
This is barley a taste of what is yet to come. This isn’t a taste yet of what my internship will look like with over 30 hours a week invested into a school where I will work in a special education classroom, work with high school girls, and continue to grow in my social work skills.
This isn’t a taste yet of the time I’ll spend playing soccer with the street boys from Casa G.
This isn’t a taste yet of the time I’ll spend in the Jungle and Galapagos Island working at an orphanage loving and playing with children for hours and getting to show them the radical love of Jesus.
This isn’t a taste yet of the countless hours spent with the 13 summit girls I am living with giggling through the night, sharing testimonies, and experiencing new food and places together.
And this definitely isn’t a taste yet of how God is going to move. He is here and ready for hearts that are all in. His plan is so great for each person that is placed here with me. His plan and love is so great for this Country and the people here. I’m so ready and so excited to see how He is going to move in the next 3.5 months.

The apartment of girls I live with.

The whole group!
With so much love all the way from Quito,
Megan
