So I am going to be honest, blogging has been more difficult for me on the race than I had originally thought prior to leaving. Over the past 2 months I have been starting blogs but unable to finish, and I just kept hearing the Lord say “just wait for it”, which was honestly pretty frustrating. I knew I needed to post a blog, but something just did not feel right.  This morning I opened up my blog page and told myself I was going to write a blog and sure enough I got about halfway through and heard God clearly say “just wait for it”, so I closed my computer and started praying and asking the Lord what he meant.

This month is called ATL which stands for Ask the Lord, which is exactly as it sounds. My team does not have any set ministry or any set plan, we wake up each morning and pray for God to reveal and guide our steps. Today, we did an ATL treasure hunt where we asked God to reveal specifics on what he had for us during the time we were out in the community. After we prayed we decided a fun way to break up the groups would be to draw cards, so I got partnered with my sweet friend Lyndsey. Before we left we all went around and shared what was laid on our hearts to look for while we were out. We were going around the circle, people saw bikes, bridges, places where to stay and then I said I saw old people, well as I said that my partner said she saw an old lady, which honestly I thought it may have been a coincidence but we laughed and were excited to go out to the community. As we were walking I asked if Lyndsey had any specifics that the Lord revealed to her and she said that for some reason she saw a hunch backed lady and I said I saw blue eyes and some other details. We kept walking and came across some flowers so we bought some to give to the people we came in contact with. We laughed and honestly were a bit skeptical if this was actually God leading our way, or if all of this was just because we love old people. We keep walking and had passed out a few flowers when we got to this road, it looked cool so we decided to go down it. Then around the corner comes this beautiful older lady RUNNING, yep I said running towards us with a HUUUUGE grin on her face! She approached me with arms opened wide and she started kissing my face and hugging me. She then turned to Lyndsey and did the same. We gave her a flower and she was grinning and laughing, and talking in a language we did not understand, but just brought us so much joy. Then as she was hugging me Lyndsey noticed she had a hunched back. She linked arms with me and started walking with us. We bought her a meal and she just kept looking at us grinning, and kept hugging and kissing us. She gave us so much love and joy. When I was sitting across from her, I noticed she had beautiful blue eyes and I just knew God placed her in our lives and set up this divine appointment.

I can not tell you the meaning of why we met this beautiful soul, I can not tell you a word she said, or even what her needs are, but what I can tell you is she is who God wanted me to wait for. I can tell you that God places people in our lives to show us the beauty in the world, for us to not lose hope in the world, and to show us the joys in the little things. At the very end of our time with our new friend we asked her if we could pray with her (by motioning prayer hands) and she shook her head yes. We began praying and it was as if she understood what we were praying for! She kept repeating “amen, amen”. I am not certain she understood us but I am certain that just as much as God used us to bless her, he used her to bless us. We walked away with her watching us leave blowing us kiss after kiss, feeling so filled with joy and so content and thankful for the Holy Spirit leading her into our paths.

I want to leave you with a little food for thought. That little voice inside your head, is not just a little voice, it is the Holy Spirit. The little voice telling me to “just wait” was not a coincidence, the thought of old people was not a coincidence, and the blue eyes and hunch back was not a coincidence. The Holy Spirit is living and active in each of us, we just need to listen and just wait for it.

I am still in need of funds in order to stay on the race, I am in need of about $1,800 in order to be fully funded by my deadline of June 1st. I fully trust that the Lord will provide, and ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting me financially as I follow His calling! Thank you for all your prayers and support!
