We made it to Uganda and officially started ministry. We are staying with a pastor and his family which includes the extended church family as well. Our week includes door to door evangelism, youth events, sports outreach, house church, and Wednesday night service. Coming to Africa I was scared, not going to lie. I felt a lot of pressure to fall in love with Africa and I thought that it would such a hard couple of months. Well, after a week of being here, I can say that it is great here. The people are incredible and I am loving it. The biggest difference from Asia that I absolutely love is the food. YUM! I’ve eaten mashed potatoes for breakfast lunch and dinner as well as vegetables that I’m not even sure what it is. So good! We are all back in one room with a corner for bucket shower and squatty potties outside. This week has been so good for my team and I. We have stepped into so many opportunities and this month is what we needed. The hungry youngsters are ready to preach and experience the Holy Spirit in so many new ways. I’d thought I’d give yall a list of fun facts from the past week so you can experience Africa with me.
- African people love to serve: this means washing your shoes, clothes, cooking American food because they don’t want us to miss home too much
- Little kids will smell you and try to scratch off freckles
- It’s not that hot. At night it’s even cold
- I would never be able to drive here. The roads are difficult to maneuver
- We got to introduce our host family to Frozen and they loved it.
- On that note we made a song for door to door evangelism sung to the tune of do you want to build a snowman:
Do you wanna hear about Jesus?
I will tell you about my Jesus!
*Rejection*
Ok bye
- I need a juicer when I get home. Our hosts make us fresh juice every morning and it’s the bomb
- I no longer feel like a giant like I did in Asia
- I got to pray and experience healing for the first time for an elderly lady in the city where we were evangelize
- My team is still the best and I love doing life with them and laughing our way through this journey. It’s pretty much the greatest.
- Fruit will never ever be satisfying after tasting fruit in Africa. It’ll be sad when I have to leave
More to come on the lessons I am learning here!
