They say I'm really random…
I prefer to say I'm fun or a little silly, even easily confused at times. I'm also caring, kind, outgoing, shy, full of energy, needing quiet alone time, smiling, and spacing out. Maybe all of that adds up to random. I've never been able to figure out if the comment is a compliment or not, but I've decided not to change. I try not to think too much about the flow of things and let each moment be its own.
I was born on a rainy island in southeast Alaska where nearly my whole Mom's side of the family lived. It was beautiful and so great to have family so close all the time. When I was 8, we moved to eastern Washington, where it's so dry that it qualifies as a desert, to help my Dad's Uncle and Grandmother out with the family farm. The small town lifestyle was hard at times, but was a good place to grow up and a new set of family to have close by. I spent my summers living with my Grandma in Tacoma, chasing the ice cream man, riding our bikes, and swimming in the lake or on swim team. In high school I ran track, was on knowledge bowl, in something that kind of resembled Glee, volleyball, honor society, and cheerleading. After high school graduation, I moved to Arizona to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, majoring in aerospace engineering. I interned at a wind tunnel in Virginia and at Walt Disney World as a park greeter/ride operator. College graduation led me back to Washington to work for Boeing. After 18 months, I landed my dream job working as a Flight Test Engineer on the new 787 airplane. It's been 4 years since I started preparing and testing that airplane, though during those 4 years I've probably worked 6 years of hours. It's been some amazing highs and lows affecting every aspect of my life. I'm so proud and happy to have been an important part of such an amazing project. I am so very lucky that my leadership agrees that taking a year off and going on a mission trip is the next step in my journey. Hopefully there will be a spot for me to return to again. All I know right now is that I'm doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.
