Rain down….

Before I left for the World Race I’m not sure how I felt
about rain. But after being in the DR and Haiti during rainy season I am
beginning to have an opinion. What would I say about it? Well…..honestly after
this month in Haiti I have begun to love rain! (Disclaimer: Not rain storms where your tents fly off the roof and your
tent poles get bent, but just nice gentle rain storms
๐Ÿ™‚)

Why have I begun to love rain? One reason, rain brings cool
air and a cool breeze, something we welcome here in hot hot Haiti. But the second
reason and most important is that it has given me the opportunity to use my rain
fly on my tent! This month it has rained quite a bit and I wasn’t too excited
about it at first but after my first night with my rainfly I began to welcome the
rain! Why am I SO excited about my rain fly? Well before I left for the World
Race my family and friends wrote messages of encouragement , truth, and even a
few reminders on my rainfly….thanks Jen for the reminder to not eat ice cream,
it has actually been helpful this month. ๐Ÿ™‚

So…..with the rain came the surprise of FINALLY reading what
my friends and family wrote! And with the rain, not only does the ground get
wet and nourished but so do I. Showers of love, support, and prayers raindown
over me while I sleep and meet me when I rise in the morning. It has been
awesome waking up to the notes challenging me, spurring me on, and covering my
day in prayer. I have actually put on my rainfly during the day a few times
this month and just sat in my tent reading the notes and scripture references
looking them up and praying for everyone who wrote something. I want to say thank
you to my friends and family (even those not able to write on it) for your
support and love, it truly is what is spurring me on. My rainfly has been my
reminder this month that you are traveling alongside me on this journey and I
am very thankful for that!

There is only one thing left to say….bring on the rain! ๐Ÿ™‚ (gentle rain that is…)

Here are a few pictures of my rain fly I took while laying in my tent……
