This month 29 beautiful children have stolen my heart. This month I am working at El Auydante in Leon, Nicaragua. They care for 29 children and their families on a long-term basis. Up until recently, these 29 children who have been abused and neglected lived in the very dorms we are staying in within the safe walls of the El Ayudante campus. They came from families where parents had abandoned them, abused them, and neglected them. They came from a level of poverty where their families had no home to provide them. All of these children were removed and placed at El Ayudante (meaning “the helper”) to have a safe and healthy home. Then a government mandate was made, declaring all children must be immediately returned to their families except in the most extreme cases of abuse and abandonment. The 25 children were picked up and returned to their families, while 4 remained on campus for their own safety. The children now live in their parents and El Auydante is still a large part of their lives. El Andante is a safe haven where these children where these children grow and thrive. El Auydante provides these children with hot meals, transportation to school, tutoring, and unconditional love.
This month I have living life alongside these beautiful children by simply investing in their lives. I play soccer with them, help them with homework, share Bible stories with them, and just love them. Some other aspects of ministry have been to teach English to the teachers and teaching educational classes to the parents. It has been amazing to see the transformation in the kids lives for the small amount of time we have been here. They trust us more everyday and are filled with joy the moment they see us. These children are going to transform this city and community. I am so excited to see where God takes them! I know he has huge plans for each and every one of them!
Thank you for all your prayers! Please pray for these 29 children as everyday when they go home they face many of the same hardships. These children have so much hope and joy despite their situations. You’re prayers are so powerful and so much fruit is coming from them!
