Sitting on the couch in my NC home, watching Friends on tv, with my dog sitting on the floor next to me–
there's a commercial break and I immediately feel it.
I immedately feel Him. Jesus is in the room.
I BUST out laughing (meanwhile, my dog is thinking I've lost my mind).
I thank the Lord for His presence, for just being there with me even as I indulge in worldly things, like 90's sitcoms.
His response:
Of course I am. I NEVER leave you. I love you.
I'm overwhelmed with joy and humility.
What an absolute honor it is to serve such a HOLY God, who still wants to sit with me as I watch television.
WHAT IN THE WORLD
He really doesn't ever leave us.
He really does oversee our EVERY move — our going out and our coming in.
He really does love us with an unconditional and everlasting love.
"O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?" —Psalm 139:1-7
the answer: nowhere. Praise God!
