Hey everyone! My name is Megan Bland and I'm completely overjoyed by this opportunity the Lord has given me to participate in the World Race!!!
I was born and raised here in Wilmington, NC. After graduating from high school, I went away to college at Elon University, and stayed there for a little over 2 and a half years. In March of 2010, I realized that it was time to make some changes in my life, so I left Elon and moved back to Wilmington. I transferred to UNC-Wilmington for the fall semester of 2010 and have been there ever since! I will be graduating in December 2011 with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
A few random facts about me:
1. I love Jesus!
2. God blessed me with an incredible family who has always been there to support me – I am very fortunate and thankful for each of them!
3. Along with my parents (Lisa and Donald), I also live with my younger brother (Micah) who is 17-years-old and a senior in high school.
4. I am BLESSED to be 22-years-old and have all 4 of my grandparents living, as well as two great grandmothers!
5. In my lifetime, I've been privileged to have known 5 of my great grandparents (for at least a year or two).
6. Almost all of my extended family also live in North Carolina, many of them right here in Wilmington!
7. My first missions trip was to the Dominican Republic when I was 17-years-old.
8. I studied abroad for a month in Italy in January 2009.
9. I have been to Kenya twice (in 2009 and 2010), both times for missions!
10. Africa is, and always has been, my most favorite continent.
11. I want to go to every continent (yes, even Antarctica) at some point in my life!
12. I love rain and thunderstorms.
13. I've never broken a bone.
14. I got to drive a tractor this summer for the first time in good ol' Johnston County!
15. I've worked at a kids camp for the past 2 summers and have been completely changed by it.
16. Music is essential to my life.
17. Blood/needles/veins completely freak me out. I could never be a nurse, and definitely respect those who are!
18. I was baptized by my grandfather when I was eight.
19. I don't have a favorite color…mostly because I like all of them!
20. Pluto was my favorite planet before scientists decided it no longer fit the guidelines for being a "planet"…I'm still a little upset about that.
