I’ve been back in America almost three weeks
And I’ve seen firsthand what I kept reading about online while overseas
I’ve seen how there is hate all in this country
How people want to throw blame on other people
Instead of embracing mistakes and faults
And then I’ve watched as a heartbreaking event
Has brought out arguments and debates
Instead of unconditional love and support
I sat in church and listened to how this country is full of darkness
And I completely agreed with the things being said
However it didn’t end there
Because there is hope
Things don’t have to stay dark
We are light
Sent to shine in the darkness
To light places up so much the darkness disappears

You can sit and make up excuses for why this country is full of darkness
Or you can do something
You can stop talking about how this country is falling apart
And instead pull it back together
Be the change you say this world needs
It starts with you!

Show love to the man on the street holding the card board sign
Teach young parents how to raise their children in a Christ centered home
Show the pregnant girls who feel hopeless that there is true hope
Make sure kids know prayer isn’t restricted to a moment of silence
Show the little boys who are fatherless how much they are loved
By a father who will never stop loving them and will never leave them
Stop having such a bad attitude about the government
Find the good they are doing
And then get on your face and cry out to our father for our leaders

Be a listening ear to the eighty year old woman who has had
No one visit her in over three weeks
If you don’t know how to relate to older people
Go find a single parent and keep their children for a few hours
So they can have an afternoon to just be free
Be full of hope
joy
grace
love
comfort
I don’t care what you do
Just do something
Stop being all talk and be the change
Put actions to your words

What dark places are you filling with light?
