Wants vs needs
A topic of conversation I have had throughout my life
I’ve been asked the question many times
If I really need to buy (fill in the blank)
Or if I just want it
This past week I have told God many things
I want for the people I have encountered
But the more I think about it
The more I realize these are not selfish wants
They are things these people need
At first glance I wanted to rip the Muslim hats off of the men and boys
Then I realized the hats need to be ripped off by God
And replaced with crowns to show they are children of the King
I wanted to take every person that is living on the street
And give them a bed to sleep in at night
Then I realized they need a place to truly call home
Not a bed in this world alone
I wanted to see a smile full of joy from these people
Not just a quick smile because they see an American on the street
Then I realized these people need to find their true joy in Christ
And then they will be filled with smiles all the time
I wanted the call to prayer to never be played from the mosque again
Because the people had stopped worshipping and praying to Allah
Then I realized these people need to hear the song
Jesus is singing over their own life
There is so much my heart wants for these beautiful people
But I cannot give them what they need
I can only show them the One who can
