“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”- 1 Corinthians 16:13

The men as a whole here in India have not impressed me.
They have actually done quite the opposite and disappointed me.

There we were at the hospital to visit patients and pray for them
When we came across a young woman with two kids.
She had a bandage all the way around her head.
Hmm what could have possibly happened to her?
Maybe she fell down a flight of stairs and has a concussion.
Or maybe she was carrying a bucket of water on her head and hurt herself.

Man, do I wish one of these stories was the truth.
But it’s not.
The real story is her husband smashed her head with a steel rod
And she had to get twenty-four stiches in her head.

Maybe I need to repeat that one.
Her husband used a steel rod to beat her in the head.
The man of the family absolutely abused her.

“Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.”- Colossians 3:19

We are standing in a village talking with two sisters.
We want to get to know them before we pray for them.
They both tell us they are believers but their husbands still worship idols.
They go to the local church services but their husbands attend the temple instead.
The two men are leading their families into darkness.

“But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.”- 1 Timothy 6:11

I counted seventeen Sunday morning.
Seventeen men were in church.
I then counted ninety-one.
Ninety-one women were in the same church service.
These women were worshipping their hearts out to their Father.
The men were nowhere to be found.

“Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.”- Titus 2:2

With every country I travel to I realize just how small the world is.
How there are so many similarities between countries.
This holds true with the men of India and America.

This is not to point out flaws of the men living in India.
It’s far from that.

I don’t say these things to ridicule the men of India.
I don’t bring this up because I believe the women are better than the men.
I say these things because I recognize these same problems in American society.
And it’s time for things to change.
It’s time for men to take a stand.

“But there is one thing I want you to know: the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.”- 1 Corinthians 11:3

If the men are to be the leaders of the families
Why are women being beaten by their husbands?
Why are children being sexually abused by their fathers?
Where are the men on Sunday mornings when it is time to corporately worship the One true God?

Men, where are you?
