After leaving the village of Cigual on Wednesday I felt depleted.
I was empty.
There were so many things I didn’t understand.
Like:
I see all the kids but where are their moms and dads?
Or why in the world did that woman just beat her son across the face with a stick?
Or why is there a man outside who doesn’t have a place to sleep tonight and I am about to sleep safely in a church?
Why, oh why is life not fair?
My heart is breaking for these people.
God, where are you in all of this confusion?

And then last night my sweet Father pulled it all together for me.
As I stood outside on a baseball field worshipping with thousands of others the questions were all washed away.
The non-existent answers didn’t matter.
The question to it all was simple: “Rest in me, my child. Rest in me.”
So I’m resting in the fact that God is good.
He cares for these people.
He loves these people.
He is gentle at heart.
And he IS going to care for these people.
Even if I’m not around to see it.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”- Matthew 11:28-30
