If you are reading this and know that in just a couple of days I will be leaving for 11 short months then you probably think this blog will be about me packing, or preparing to leave or something along those lines. Sorry to disappoint. This has nothing to do with those things because those things are stressful and I'm avoiding them for as long as possible.
I smashed my finger in my car door the other night and then had some crazy insight and Bible applications about it the next morning. I was walking through my house trying to get ready and was avoiding using my finger at all cost. And it made getting ready way harder than it should have been. I mean try washing your hair with your index finger pointed out of the way. Or try brushing your teeth with one less finger. You get the point, it was crazy how much such a small part of my body being affected altered my routine and my morning.
So while walking through the house my mind smashed into a brick wall as I thought about Paul talking about the body in Romans and 1 Corinthians. Of course all of our body parts have different roles. And because my finger was hurting I couldn't substitute my toe for it and get the same results, because it was up to my finger to perform the task.
I'm about to begin this journey with my six other teammates. And in my mind each one of us are a different body part. And even though we are different we will be working together to accomplish things as a team. I can't wait to learn from these other people. I can't wait for all of our gifts to come together and each person to shine in their own way as we bring freedom and hope to the nations. I'm excited for our body to function properly for the Lord.
