Month Two – Thailand
Our ministry host’s name was Pi Emi (You say Pi for anyone who is older then you, it’s a sign of respect). She owns a café and brings girls in who don’t want to work in the bars anymore. Her ministry focuses on showing Jesus in the flesh and building a relationship with people first before telling someone about Jesus. This past month I’ve been working in Bar Ministry and in Pi Emi’s café here in Thailand.
Bar Ministry:
We spent week one and week three in this ministry. We have been going on prayer walks from 9 to 11, then going out to the bars to talk to the girls and try to build relationships with them from 2 to 4 and then we have worship from 7:30 to 8:30. Then from 8:30 to 10:30 we would go out to the bars or stay back and pray for the people that were going out to the bars that night. We could only go out to the bars two times in a row. This last Friday we hosted a party for the girls that we had gotten to know. 5 girls came. We had food, a photo booth, painted nails and played Pictionary. I think the girls had a really good time and it was just another way for us to show them love.
Cafe Ministry:
We worked with another team switching back and forth each day. One day my team would be working in the Café, helping them with things like washing dishes, serving food, peeling garlic, sweeping and moping the floors, washing windows or cleaning fans. In the down time we would sit with the girls who worked there and teach them English. It was so much fun, I loved it!
Some days my team did house cleaning or watching one of the lady’s 3 year old boy. I always got to watch the little boy, Nong Bee, with Dani, my teammate because they wanted the same people watching him, so it was easier on him. We would take care of him from 4pm to 7pm. We took him to the park, to get ice cream, to the river to try and feed the fish. It’s was sometimes hard to keep him busy, but he was a sweet kid.
On days off we played with tigers…..
Rode elephants…….
And went to the PooPoo Park…..
Also got to eat some interesting food…..
These days working in the bar ministry and cafe were very long, but it’s been great to be spending so much time with The Lord. He’s been really teaching me that it’s not about me and to trust Him more. It’s been amazing to be able to love on so many people this month. It was also very special to be with the whole squad.
On to Month 3 – Cambodia! Thanks for praying for me.
