I'm sitting in the airport, not Dulles in Washington DC like I thought, but rather in JFK in New York. Yup, you're probably wondering how we ended up here. No, we are not on a layover — we drove up here at midnight on a bus. We'll be boarding a plane in 2 1/2 hours to Bulgaria, right? Nope…guess again. Instead my squad gets the privilege of experiencing God's sovereign will right from the get go. He wanted us to save Bulgaria for later in the Race and so we are boarding a plane to head to CENTRAL AMERICA! Our first month will be spent serving the people of Honduras!
For those of you who know me well, you are probably feeling my excitement ripple through the distance. I have been attempting to become fluent in Spanish since middle school, so the fact that we're going to Honduras for our first month on the Race is such a blessing to me! I have a love for the language and the culture of South and Central America that goes beyond my understanding. I cannot wait to share with you what the Lord is doing there!
Something we are quickly learning — and you will learn, as well, as you follow my blogs — change is pretty common on the World Race. It's actually better to expect change rather than to expect that every plan and schedule you're given will stay the same. Change is a beautiful thing though. I one hundred percent believe that nothing happens by coincidence; our God is an active god and He is working through and in every situation. Believing this just makes me even more stoked to head to Honduras now instead of on month 10, because I know there is an urgency for us to be with the people of Honduras now. I can't wait to find out why!
So please be praying for my squad's travels today and tomorrow as we continue to make our way south! I'll give an update as soon as I get internet down there.
Before I jet out 😉 I'll leave you with some photos. We got the wonderful opportunity to be in our nation's capitol on the 4th of July and to watch the fireworks as they lit up the sky behind the Washington Memorial.

Team O.I.L. (minus Hannah) in front of the Washington monument.

Riding the metro bus with Stephania and Brandi to the Capital.

Mary mesmerized by the fireworks.

Team O.I.L. again in front of the Capital.

Some G squad girls in front of the Smithsonian — taking in all the best of DC.
Thank you for your prayers and continued support. I still need $7,000 in order to continue on this journey, so if you feel led to give you can click on the link on the left side bar that says "Support me." Your prayers are the most important, so please keep my squad and team lifted up!
Talk to you soon from Honduras!!! ¡Hasta luego!
