Now is the time when we dream. Either a couple days or a couple years out of college, an overwhelming number of options lie ahead of us.
Do I go to grad school?
Do I take a job in Portland or Seattle?
Do I rent this apartment or buy this car?
Do I abandon the American Dream for God’s Great Commission?
When I dream, I want to push beyond what’s expected of me. I want to trade in the corporate ladder, the packed closet of unused clothes, and the convenient $8 sushi at Market of Choice. I want to choose to live a radical life for God before commitments make that lesson a lot harder to learn.
So, instead of finding the perfect job and settling in, I’m saying yes to God and going on the World Race.
Where? Starting in January of 2017, my squad and I will travel to 11 countries in 11 months. Though subject to change, the countries are currently India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, and South Africa.
What? We will carry our belongings in packs, hopefully spend a few nights sleeping under the stars, and share Jesus’ love in 3 continents. We will serve “the least of these” and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We may build schools, gives clothes to refugees, pray for people in their homes, or work in an orphanage.
Most importantly, we will love. We will do our best to love like Jesus loved, and we will let people know that there is a God who wants a relationship with them.
Why? God loves me and has blessed me abundantly to be a blessing to others. He is worthy of praise from people all over the world. I know how much my life has changed since entering into a relationship with Jesus, and I want to serve and love others because of it. I want others to experience the same joy and peace and community.
How? First, God. He is faithful and He will provide. Second, with support from friends and family like you. I have $17,017 to raise, along with several thousand more in plane tickets, shots, gear, and personal expenses.
