I had a lot of interesting responses to my blog yesterday about counter-cultural Christianity.  I think that the bulk summary of what everyone thought was that there are some practices of us living our faith out that make us counter cultural, but other than that… counter-cultural living is a poor decision.

I think I have to agree.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about how we should be living our faith out.  In a counter-cultural way?  No.  Rather, I think we should be living our faith out in a cross-cultural way, where our faith-based culture intersects with the culture of society.

It’s called cross-cultural Christianity.

We should be trying to live our faith in such a way that we don’t necessarily blend into society, but definitely in a way that society’s able to relate to it.  Does that make sense?  In other words, God couldn’t have come to earth dressed in all of His glory.  If he did, it would have killed us.  Instead, He took on the form of man… and in a sense, blended in so that we might be able to relate.

As Christians in American society, I don’t think that our faith is a t-shirt that we wear so we’re identified as a certain type of people.  We should be living in a way, as “culture creators”, that the new cultures becomes integrated with the old.

It’s like this video my friend showed me yesterday.  This is active faith culture being integrated into everyday life at Disneyland.  I just think it’s a wonderful illustration.  I hope this is making sense.  Keep your thoughts coming also.  They’ve been helpful to me and others that I have received emails from.
