Hello to all!

We are over a week into our ministry this month and God has been so good to me and my team! Our ministry for this month has been a little bit of everything. Every night we have either been traveling to nearby villages and doing house to house evangelism or staying in the city and having gospel meetings and church services at the local church here in Kuala Krai.  The village evangelism has been good and there have been a few days where we will start praying and visiting houses at 4-5 and not finish until 11 o'clock at night!  Malaysia is a very "entrenched" country though. The people are very Islamic and traditional, where the women are forbidden to show their hair, so they cover their entire bodies except for their faces.  There is also a minority of Hindu Indians here in Malaysia and when they came from India they brought their entire pantheon of idols as well. Our village outreach has concentrated on mostly the Indian minorities with a few Malaysians.

During the mornings we either help tutor English to local Malaysian children or help build a new church building. Currently we are helping haul sand and dirt and spreading it around the building site to level the ground for construction. Our ministry contact this month is an Indian man, whose name is very difficult to pronounce, so he told us when we met him to just call him Pastor. Pastor and his wife are from India and have stressed daily prayer more on the Race than anybody I've met thus far. In fact, our first orientation with him involved a bible lesson and video on prayer.

I will admit this month, more than any so far, I have thinking a lot about home and church. And the more I think about friends and family back home the more I miss you all! I literally can't wait to return home to everyone and share what God has allowed me to do and learn over the past nine months! I am looking forward to the rest of the Race and what God has in store for me in the months to come! May God bless you as you live for him!

Servant of the Most High God,

Matthew
