10 reasons how training camp was above and beyond stellar and shattered all my expectations of what I thought was going to happen.

  1. Expecting the unexpected does not do justice to what took place at training camp. I flew into Atlanta anticipating a few hardships and curveballs and what I got was way beyond my expectations in a GOOD way!
  2. The LORD God was there in a BIG way! He guided us and blessed us. Our days and hardships passed with joy, brotherhood, sisterhood, hospitality, and love for each other.
  3. The food was certainly something to write home about. The saying of sharing a meal together took on 10 extra levels of meaning for me!! And it showed me a whole another awesome perspective of how good Christ is to his followers. Just know that at training camp you get all kinds of grub from all over the world. Bon appitet!!
  4. The weather!!! Who would’ve thought that Atlanta, Georgia was cold! It was cold in the morning, cold in the evening, cold at night. Triple layer clothing, camp fires and teammates coats(aka my brother Zach) were a constant during this wild and good week. Word to future world racers- pack warm!
  5. Worship!! Worship was soo powerful at training camp! The songs of praise were awesome, the lessons were in depth and hard hitting and the devos were heartfelt. And reading God’s word right after a 30 minute workout with Rachel Ray in 50 degree temperatures is a experience not to be forgotten! haha
  6. Teams!! Working together in teams forces you to see so much about yourself. Your strengths, your weaknesses, and how you can best help those around you.
  7. Challenging- The challenges were tough but bettering. Spiritually, emotionally and physically. Prepare to be challenged!! Nuff said
  8. The Marketplace- Overseas markets in Atlanta??? Eye opening and shocking. One night haggling for rice and beans “overseas” makes me appreciate the express lanes in grocery stores. It was so real it was surreal.
  9. The unceasing prayer- Prayers for healing, prayers for strength, prayers for community, prayers for God’s wonderful power to be visibly displayed were HUGELY encouraging and they WORKED!!! Shout out to my brother Andy for showing such an awesome example of how powerful prayer is real today!
  10. Squad leadership- I had the best squad period. And our leadership was focused and committed to helping us grow in Christ. Shout out to Hannah, Joanne and John, Steven, Nathan, Kristin, Renee, Talia, Holland, and Carrie! Ya’ll rock and may the LORD continue to bless you!

So what was training camp? It was growth. Growth in Christ, growth in trusting in God, growth in knowing what I need verses what I want, growth in brotherhood, growth in toughness, and growth in becoming a more useful and zealous disciple for Christ. Training camp will shatter your inhibitions and expectations and force you to grow! PRAISE BE CHRIST!!!
