As we have recently crossed the halfway point of the Race, there are certain parts of it that are becoming a recurring theme. Sometimes ministry doesn’t look like we would envision it looking and it is tough to find the purpose of it. There are a lot of times that ministry looks like doing manual labor and busy work, and to be honest with you that gets a little tiring after 6 months.

I was face timing with my parents the other day and we were discussing what all we had been doing. I was expressing to them the frustration of all the manual labor we had been doing and they reminded me of this message from a Pastor they had heard. It was called “Planting oak trees that you will never get to enjoy the shade of”. I was blown away by that statement and immediately felt conviction of the negative attitude that i had developed.

As humans, we have such a mindset of wanting everything to go just as we would like it and if it doesn’t then we are automatically negative towards the situation. It is the same concept in ministry as well as we have convinced ourselves that every month we should be in an orphanage or have relational ministry and it just doesn’t happen like that.

So as we move forward i am going to choose to be positive no matter what ministry looks like. I may not or you may not see the fruits of all your labor, but do not fret because one day someone will reap the benefit from it. The best news is that our rewards are not here on this earth, they are in Heaven and thats good enough for me. Is it for you?
