As it is my last day in Moldova, I thought it would be fitting to finally fill you in on what we have been up to here!

This month, our ministry has been in Petropavlovca, Moldova… a small, Russian-speaking, farming village where it’s all about hard work, family, and friends (and God!).

We lived in a house next to the church on a dirt road in the middle of miles and miles of farmland. It was so peaceful and so serene.

The purpose of our ministry here has been to encourage the local church. Our month was about serving in the community as if we were one of their own. Most of the time that looked like chopping down cornstalks and shucking corn. For hours… every…day! The elderly women here that work in the fields are the hardest working people I’ve seen in the US or abroad- it was honestly a challenge to keep up with them! It has been a ton of fun working with them, and humbling too, knowing that this is their life day after day.

After a morning in the fields, they always made us the best homemade meals as a reward. And the food here is amazing! We have been taken care of so well by them. Even though this month there has been a language barrier, I’ve still really enjoyed working with these families. They are so loving and hospitable. I am always going to miss it.

Aside from the corn fields, we attended Catholic mass daily, and played with the most adorable kids for a few hours at the church. It was a great month to live village life, learn a new reverence for the Lord through mass, and truly experience the love of God through the hardworking elderly and the smiling kids.

Meet Maria. She was one of our best friends this month at mass and the after-school kids program! A sweet girl with a heart for God and a bright future ahead of her.

I will miss the pace of village life. I will miss the cornfields. I will miss the kids. And all the families. I will miss sweet Padre Daniel and how much he cared for us. I will miss it all! So long Moldova!
