What if this was your home?
What if it sat on plot of land less than
2 acres and you shared it with over 100 other people?
What if you shared one toilet with all
of the families you lived with?
What if you had to walk a mile just to
get clean water?
What if the rest of the world had simply
forgotten about you and left you with no hope for any improvement of your
current circumstances?
Kenya.
Four
months ago our lives intersected and I knew I had to make a decision. Something has to be done. God has given a handful of us a
vision for Maai Mahiu. We are putting together a team to put a stop to this
injustice, and we need you to join us.
I
will be working in Gainesville, GA for the next six months to take this vision
and develop a plan to empower the people of Maai Mahiu physically and spiritually. We want to create a self-sustaining community by using local
resources to meet basic needs, such as raising chickens and providing poultry
for each family, employment for men through brick pressing, acquiring land for
houses and latrines, and improving water quality and sanitation.
Our
desire is to see generations completely transformed physically, spiritually,
and emotionally. After the six month
planning phase, we will travel to Kenya to live with the people there and implement
projects. We will serve. We will love. We will pour into them. This is not a short term solution but a
holistic approach to the poverty that is plaguing this community.
But,
as I said, we need you to join us because our team isn’t complete. In order
to make this dream a reality we need people to partner with us; people
that are dedicated to support this ministry through prayer and financial giving. I need to raise $10,000 for the next six months to
stay in Georgia and be a part of this ministry. I need people behind me whose hearts also break when they see people in
need and are looking for help. We have
the opportunity to truly improve the lives of the widows, orphans, and the poor
and show them the love of Christ through word and deed.
