Sorry for the delay in posts…we just finished a five day
electronics fast so I wasn’t able to post anything.
The place we are staying is a children’s home called Casa
Shalom. But for the first week and a
half this place has felt like anything but a house of peace. We came out of last month on a high from the
relationships we had built, the ministry we were a part of, and the way we felt
God showed up…but in most of us there was uneasiness about meeting up as a
squad. For some of us it’s always more
challenging to be with the entire squad because it takes more energy when
you’re around so many people and it’s more physically and emotionally
draining. But another reason is that
we’ve been gearing up to hear who will be appointed to the squad leader
positions. We knew that when the squad
leaders were decided it would change up teams.
Right away when we got to Casa Shalom people started being
pulled into meetings and there was a sense that a lot was going to be changing
within our squad. After a lot of prayer
by everyone, especially our leadership, things changed a lot and now our squad
looks a little different. The first
change that happened was that Rachel on Agape8 decided to end her Race early
and return to Nicaragua and do full time ministry there. She really felt a calling to work with the
kids there and after being in Romania for a month decided to make a commitment
to go and serve there. The second change
that happened was that team Azuriah was dissolved and assimilated into the
other squad teams. Our team picked up
Kaleb and although it was hard to see their team be split up we all felt good
about how it played out. The third thing
that happened was that two people were sent home because of extenuating
circumstances. This was the hardest
change that took place and truly wore a lot of us to the breaking point. We all learned so much from this situation,
but life lessons are rarely easy to learn. The last couple of changes that happened was that Tiffany was appointed
as the sole squad leader for now, my team leader Will has switched to leading
her team, and I’ve become the leader of the team I’m on.
kids and just walking the streets of Bucharest asking God what he wants us to
do. But most of our time and energy has
been spent on our internal battles with our squad. We’ve been trying to figure out what this all
looks like, how our squad is going to function now, and what new direction we’re
heading. It’s been a hard road thus far,
but we’re all excited and know that God has a plan and is doing great things in
the midst of what we’re going through.
