God has a purpose for your life!
“When David had served God’s purposes in his own generation,
he fell asleep.” – Acts 13:36
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do
good works, which God has prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
We will never know our purpose unless we know what God’s
number one goal for us is.God wants to glorify himself, make his name, His grace and
His glory known. He created the Heavens and the earth to worship Him. So he
created Adam, Eve, us. He created us in His image. And he gave us choice, free
will. We can choose him or reject him. He wants us to make a choice to worship
him. If he created us just to robotically worship him, it wouldn’t be
satisfying. Think about it; if everyone around had to pick your team as a last
resort or an only option it wouldn’t be very fulfilling would it? But if people
chose your team because of you, you would feel pretty good. That’s exactly how
God sees it. He wants us to choose Him and him alone.
And so, what happened as a result of our choice? We failed
God and His plan for us. We sinned, and still continue to sin. But God is full
of grace. He wants us to reach him so desperately that he had a plan. He would
send his son to be that conduit to himself. He would give us a tangible way we
could understand.
And so what is God’s greatest display of the glory of his
grace? He sent his son Jesus to the earth. Through Jesus he has been reaching
out. That’s how much he loves us, he came in the flesh that we may see, touch,
and feel him. Jesus was the fullest manifestation of His mercy and love. It was
the cross when His son suffered and died at the hands of men for the purpose of
men because he loved us.
greatest display of the glory of that grace is the cross, then the Cross must
not be an accident, the cross must not be the back-up plan. Our purpose is to
follow Christ in order to come to the Father in worship and awe. It’s the only
way. Jesus speaks about the narrow road, and that’s exactly what it is. Many
don’t fully grasp it, but it’s there. It’s our purpose so that we may walk into
our destiny, why we were originally created.
…how do we fulfill our purpose?
…how do we become People of Destiny?
later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went even though he did not know
where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a
stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who
were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city
with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. By faith Abraham, even
though he was past age – and Sarah herself was barren-was enabled to become a
father because he considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from
this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars
in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.” – Hebrews 11:8-12
whose architect and builder is God…if they had been thinking of the country
they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were
longing for a better country-a heavenly one.” – Hebrews 11:10,15,16a
