Proverbs 17:17 says,
A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
Here on the World Race, I have been blessed with many new friends. I’m also blessed with having 8 brothers. In my family back home I only have one sister, so having brothers has been exciting and definitely fun.
As Proverbs says, a friend loves at all times! My friends, no matter how close love me. If they didn’t they definitely wouldn’t be my friends would they. I’m talking about the deep down, call me up randomly and talk kind of friends. Not those ones you hangout with at certain functions or when they have no where else to go. It’s those friends who seek you out because they care for you that truly love you!
And so as the passage goes on to say, “brothers are born for adversity”. Brothers are closer than friends. They are those who are there no matter what, through thick and thin. They care about you! They care about what’s happening around you! They put before themselves! That’s what brothers do! There’s a bond of kinship! In the Kingdom, we are all brothers. We are united by our Father, God! And so whether we like it or not, we are family. Just like my sister Melissa at home. I have no choice! I can however to choose to accept her or neglect her, but the point is that she IS my sister! Just like my fellow Christians. We are family, we are one, we are God’s children!
And so, I want to thank one of my brothers now! My buddy ol’ pal Kelton “Wildman” Crouch. In my group of 8 brothers here on the World Race, Kelton is the one who has to put up with me. He is the one that has to see me every day and get along with me! We have split up from our squad and Kelton and I have been placed on the same team. The Lord made up this team, I have no choice. And so, as my brother, we are striving to work as one! We are united by our passion to follow Christ. We are standing together in our fight to serve, protect, and provide for the girls on our team. That’s what brothers do! Sure we have differences and opinions, but that doesn’t mattewr when we both try and serve as Jesus is teaching us to!
So here’s a video I made for my buddy Kelton. Please enjoy it and reflect on those around you! Who are your friends, your TRUE friends? Better yet, who are your brothers and sisters? Who are your brothers and sisters in the Kingdom? Who do you go to when there’s trouble? If there is anything you have differences over, shouldn’t you go and make them right?
Even Jesus, a Teacher, and Lord washed his disciples’ feet!!
