30-33“If God gives such
attention to the appearance of wildflowers-most of which are never even
seen-don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his
best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not
be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving.
People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things,
but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality,
God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll
find all your everyday human concerns will be met.
34“Give
your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get
worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you
deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
-Matthew 6:30-34 (The Message)
Yesterday Jodi and I went to Skadar Lake in Montenegro. God’s hands were all over this place. It was a time to let go and really enjoy everything He created for us and see the beauty of who He is.
Today we were walking to meet Besa, (a girl we met at the store) to go have some coffee. We were talking about life now and post World Race and I really found myself worrying about what I am going to do when I get home. I am going to have to start over… what career will I pursue? Will I just move back to Greer? All of the things that I knew weren’t important when I came on the race were coming back to haunt me. This is when Jodi piped up and said “Seek first the Kingdom of God and everything else will take care of itself”. Everything became okay. If we chose to believe He sent His son to die for us, why is it so hard to believe His other promises sometimes?
