It has been a week since I landed in Thailand now working alongside Emmi and Lighthouse in Action. A journey I started in faith of God’s provision. It is this faith that has led me to works not for my own salvation but for the salvation of others and the discipleship of the Saints in Chiang Mai. Right now my work is in jeopardy of becoming much harder and much more expensive. So it is with a heavy heart for the people of Thailand I ask you to put your faith into work so I can continue in my calling. I am currently in need of 100 people to give a one time gift of 20 dollars or more by Monday the 14th of October 2013, so I can continue my work here in Thailand.
You may be wondering, what could cost $2,000 and would make it so he can stay in Thailand?
Let me break it down for you, I need $1,500 dollars so I can enroll in a Thai Language Course. This will cover 90 hours of one to one study with a trained Thai Instructor, Materials needed for the course, as well as to help subsidies the cost of travel to and from the course. I will then need around $300 dollars to buy a plane ticket to a near by country with a Thai Embassy, (probably Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), to renew my visa from a tourist visa to an Education Visa. And I will need around 200 dollars for transportation too and from the airport, accommodations, and food while in the near by country for a couple of days.
If I can’t raise this money I will have to at least leave the country to get my Visa extended and then continue to repeat this process every three months, which will end up costing my much more money and will put me at a deficit by not being able to learn the language of the people I have come to minister to.
So what am I asking? I am asking 100 people to give up Coffee for a Week for the Kingdom. That is right, give up your three dollar cup of coffee a day for a week and help support the Kingdom through your faithful giving, you can even keep the dollar left over for yourself. This Visa not only allows me to stay in the country for the next year, but it also gives me the tools to better minister to the people around me. Yes many people here speak english, however it is not their first language and many have a very difficult time having a basic conversation. So again I ask you to put you faith into works for the expansion of the Kingdom!
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
