God is really cool and God is in Guatemala. Guatemala is easily the most beautiful country I’ve had the opportunity to see. My squad and I are partnering with Luis from New Generation and working to raise funds for books to incorporate biblical principles into local schools. Fundraising for his ministry, evangelizing, prayer walks, talking/praying for beggars, teaching English, painting Luis’s bus, and loving on local kids are the wonderful ministry opportunities God has laid before us in the San Pedro/Antiqua Guatemala community.

Living with forty other believers is uplifting, joyous, and a tad bit stinky. The scent of the bedroom I share with five other dudes is quite rancid. A combination of body odor, gas (due to the Guatemalan food we are not quite accustomed to yet), and dirty laundry is detrimental to one’s nostrils. But seriously, it is such a blessing to live in such a cool community of Christ followers. Learning to live on mission, live in healthy community, and growing in intimacy with the Father has been so sweet.

Playing soccer against the kiddos of San Pedro is a frequent late afternoon activity that a couple of my squad mates and I love to take part in. We may not speak the same language as our worthy opponents, but the constant laughter on both sides is life giving. There’s something about the friendly atmosphere of the game that makes it more than just a pickup soccer match. It’s a special kind of ministry. After about an hour or two of getting our ankles broken by kids half our age, we say ” hasta lluego,” and head back go our host home; looking forward to the next opportunity to get our butts kicked.

Here’s some super cool pics of my pals and I playing soccer with the local kids if San Pedro el alto.
