You know when you hear a message or a word and it changes your perspective on life?

For me, it happens all the time on the Race.

This past Saturday night, a few of us went with the boys to a church in Jinotepe, called La Roca.

Pause.

Funny Story.

(During the message, which is in Spanish, so obviously I didn’t understand, the woman speaking asked the congregation, “Who is a new creation?” And everyone raised their hands and looked around. I, obviously not understanding, did not raise my hand, because I didn’t know why they were raising them. The boys sitting on either side of me laughed and pulled my hand up. Kinda embarrassed, I said, “Lo siento, no entiendo!” or “I’m sorry, I don’t understand.” I said it loud enough that the people in the two rows in front of me turned around and laughed at me. Probably not funny to those of you who don’t know me, but if you can picture me in this situation, I know you laughed.)

Okay, so obviously I didn’t understand the message until after the service when my teammate, Christina, who is fluent, could explain it to me.

It was about how Moses disobeyed the Lord by striking the rock to get water, instead of speaking to it like the Lord told him.

Moses still got the blessings of Lord, but he wouldn’t be able to reach the promise land, because of his disobedience. He wouldn’t be able to reach his full potential of what the Lord had for him.

Christina was all amped because she had just listened to a podcast from her church back home, and her pastor had just talked about the same thing.

So we listened to the sermon from her pastor, and honestly, the Lord really used that podcast to shape my heart to be Spirit lead.

He was talking about how in Deuteronomy 32, while Moses is on his deathbed, the Lord  shows him the promise land. He shows him the what-could-have-been had he not disobeyed. One time. One time Moses, and he missed it. He missed the fullness of what God had for him. He still received blessings, just not the fullness.

I know for sure, that I don’t want to be on my deathbed and hear the Lord tell me that I missed it.

If you feel the Spirit leading you to do something, you better do it.

I learned this phrase a couple months ago, and it’s a good one to remember in being Spirit lead…

Your comfort level is not your spiritual discernment.

Chew on that.
