This month in Thailand my team and I were given the task to find “Unsung Heroes” here that need help. Unsung Heroes are the people who love serving God and give up everything to do so. My team and I went on a trip to go visit a possible contact for future racers.
The location of the place is about 15 minutes outside of a major city here in Thailand. The main focus of the organization is to make it possible for children to go to school, by giving them somewhere to live. It is for the kids who live 6 plus hours away from a school and cannot go back and forth everyday. They also have a church at their camp grounds that the children are able to attend. They give children a place to live in order to get an education, and, at the same time, feel the love God has for them, possibly for the fist time. We also went with them to watch some baptisms. I always find it interesting to see how people do things so different, but still love the one and only same God.
While we were there, the river ended up being next to some type of resort that has elephants. Talk about being unexpected. After the baptisms the children played in the water for while and some elephants walked by with their trainers on top of them. Me and a few of my teammates asked if we could pet one and they said yes. Going to the river to watch baptisms I never expected to see my favorite animal in the world, and let alone touch it!
Being on this mission trip for about 6 months now I have had countless events happen in my life that I will never forget. I have met so many people and when helping them they have helped me grow as an individual as well. I don't know what the next months have to offer, but I know wherever I go showing the love Christ has for us to others can make the biggest difference and it all starts with a friendship and sharing life stories.
I currently need $3,700 more to be fully funded for this trip. I need the money by July 1st, 2013 in order to continue on this journey. I know that God will do great things and that if I'm meant to stay the money will come in. Please pray and if it is placed on your heart to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.
