I live in the great state of Texas. I was born in Houston and have lived here all my life. In May I reached a huge milestone, I graduated from Dallas Baptist University with a B.A. in Christian Studies. I am now very excited for the next adventure in my life which is the World Race. I love missions, traveling and taking on new experiences and am so glad that I get the opportunity to pursue all three of these things in the upcoming year. Missions is very close to my heart. I have been on mission trips to Venezuela, Honduras, Ukraine, Romania and most recently Germany. The first four of my mission trips were spent working with children. We put on VBS programs, puppet shows, dramas, visited orphanages and AIDS hospitals and did some small work projects. In Germany our team helped put on a youth camp. All of these mission trips have helped fuel the fire and love I have for missions. They have helped me make the decision that missions will forever be a part of my life.
Christ has been number one in my life since I became a Christian at the age of eight. After God brought me through numerous trials, I rededicated my life to Him when I was a junior in high school. College has been a great experience for me and I have grown so much in my walk with the Lord and learned so much about life in general. College was a great time for me to grow individually as a person and to spread my wings a bit.
During my college career I was very active in the lab school and in the Baptist Student Ministry (BSM). The lab school is an elementary school that was on the campus of my college. For two years I worked in the after school program, tutored a dyslexic child and was a teacher’s assistant. Additionally, I was involved in the BSM all four years of my college career. As a student leader in the missions ministry, my job was to raise money for student missionaries to be able to go on mission trips during the summer. My senior year I also worked in the BSM as a secretary.
I love trying new things which can be seen through the several jobs I have had during my college years. I have worked as a camp counselor at a Christian camp in Colorado. I was a children’s minister at a church in Cincinnati. This summer I will be working at my home church in the children’s ministry and will be working at a Christian ranch in Colorado.
God has blessed me with a wonderful family. Currently I live at home with my parents, older sister and younger sister. God has brought us through some tough times, but through it all we have remained intact.
Some fun stuff about me would be that I love the color green, collect frogs and I am a huge Houston Astros fan. I also love to read, bike ride, horse back ride, paint, act and cook.
I am so glad that God blessed me with the opportunity to go on this missions adventure and I look forward to all that He will do in my life as a result of this experience. I know this is going to be the adventure of a lifetime and I am so ready to get started and see God work in miraculous ways.
