Here I am in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I have absolutely fallen
in love with Thailand and Thai people already and I can barely speak to them.
They are such a beautiful people and when they smile at me my heart just melts!
We are going out to the bars for the first time tonight and I’m incredibly
excited. I feel like all that I’ve seen in pictures, watched on injustice
videos, read about, heard about, and prayed about is coming to a head as we
prayer walk down bar street tonight. I know I’m not ready for what we will see
but the Lord is. The Lord LOVES these peoples and He LOVES these Thai girls we
are going to meet and become friends with. He sees their pain, their desire for
more, He sees them where they’re at and He has something so much better for
them. He has rescue. He has Hope. He has justice. He has Freedom. My prayer is
that they will see that the Lord has SO much more for them than anything this
world can offer them. Emmi, our contact in Chiang Mai and at Light House
ministries, wants all 8 girls on our team to ask the Lord to lead us each to
one Thai girl. Please join us in prayer as we seek to follow the Lord in to the
divine relationships that He has set up in advance for us.
The above paragraph was written a few days ago. Since then,
we’ve gone out to the bars a few times and have already fallen in love with
some of the girls. Our goal, objective, vision whatever you want to call it is
to build relationships with the Thai girls that work on Bar Street. During the
day my team works at a coffee shop called WonGen Kafe, which is another
ministry of Lighthouse. If the Thai girls do decide they want to leave the bars
they can start working at WonGen and live upstairs if they need lodging. So
half of my team goes out to the bars every night while the other half stays
back to intercede. We are building relationships with the Thai girls that the
Lord leads us to in hopes that these relationships will lead to transformed
lives in Christ.
This ministry is hard without God’s heart for the women AND
the men that are buying. We are constantly asking the Lord for His heart. We
remember that we are not fighting against flesh and blood. There is a constant
battle here between light and darkness. As we walk the streets each night there
are spirits of lust, performance, apathy, confusion, bondage etc. We are
praying and walking in opposite spirits. Peace, purity, deliverance, beauty,
new life, freedom! We serve a BIG God so we are here asking for BIG things in
Chiang Mai and in Thailand as a whole! Join us in intercession not only for the
people in Thailand but also for the 27 million slaves around the world. The
church MUST step up to this injustice!
