Good, I just wanted to share a little about what life is like Month 6.
So where are we and what are we up to?
We are in Battambang, which I believe is the second largest city in Cambodia. Don’t quote me on that one. We are working with an incredible ministry that works with street kids and slum kids. It’s called Crossing Cambodia, check them out at http://www.crossingcambodia.org/. They pick them up every morning. The kids come to the center and get ready for school (bathe, eat, dress in their uniform, etc.). They are at school till lunch and come back to the center and do homework. They staff helps them out with homework. They then return to school for the afternoon and then the staff drives them home.
What has that been like?
This ministry has been extremely eye opening and has taught me so much about love and compassion. My last blog was about compassion, check it out.
So Cambodia, what’s that like?
Still hot, not as hot as Thailand. The people are incredible here. They are so kind. It’s still pretty tropical, so palm trees are usually in view.
What’s the food like?
There is so much rice!!! There is always rice or noodles. Fish is usually on the menu. We eat breakfast and lunch with the kids and it’s all traditional Khmer food. That includes soups, friend rice, friend fish, things like that. The fun thing is sweet chili sauce is used like ketchup here, lol. Love it!
What are you obsessed with this month?
Smoothies! There is this fantastic smoothie lady that uses coconut milk. I enjoy a good avocado and mango smoothie. Also, iced coffee made with sweetened condense milk. There is a lady on the side of the road that makes this thick coffee and then adds sweeten condense milk. It’s then poured over ice and she adds more milk. It’s about 50 cents and soooo good.
What’s Mary processing this month?
Well, we are quickly approaching our half way mark on the race. We will be in South America here in a few short week, WHOA! There are things that I’m really starting to miss. I really miss beds. Wow and you guess it riding. The race is so much harder than I would have imaged, but so much more rewarding. Just taking time to praise God for where he has taken me and my squad, but also praying into endurance for the rest of the race.
Do you have any prayer requests?
You bet I do!!! My dear sweet squad mate Jillian was in a moto bike accident. She broke her elbow. She had surgery a few days ago and is still in a lot of pain. She is at a hospital nearby and receiving what she needs. Please pray for healing. She has an incredible spirit and just pray against restlessness as she spends days in the hospital.
Also, I still have squad mates that are fundraising and don’t want to go home. Please join my team and praying for our squad to all be fully funded by the end of the month!
Anything else?
Thank you, thank you so much for reading my blog and supporting me. Your prayers mean so much to me! It means the world. This is an incredible adventure and I cannot begin to express what it has meant to have it.
