Unexpected Gifts

Tomorrow is the fundraising deadline for $11,000. As of last night I still needed roughly $1,500. There were actually 7 people on the squad that had still not met the deadline. With me were also 2 people that are on my team. So almost half of 7th Sparrow was not funded and was in jeopardy of not continuing the race and going on to Europe this week.

The team as a whole has supported us and helped us fundraise. They have written notes on facebook asking people to give to us and we created a fundraising video that I posted on a previous blog. Total, the 3 of us needed about $7,000. For all 7 people on O Squad to meet the deadline, we needed about $11,000.

At our session last night one of our Squad Coaches, Bruce, shared a story with us. Before he came from the US to debrief in Guatemala he had been talking about the race with coworkers, letting them know what it was about and the situation. He showed them a video that some of the other teams made for fundraising and the coworkers were really interested and amazed.

Yesterday Bruce was contacted by one of those coworkers; he said to tell us not to worry about the fundraising because they were going to take care of it. What? My mouth literally dropped open when he told this to the squad. The money needed for all 7 of us was going to be paid. Happy Easter!!!

Needless to say, there was much joy and thankfulness. Our teamed huddled together to celebrate – and of course cry. Praise the Lord, O my soul!
