Reality has never been a place I like to spend a lot of time. I spend much of my time daydreaming and letting my mind wander, often needing other people to be my “reality check.” Well you guys, today, I’m moving to reality. Like full-time, full-blown reality. Because we just got our Launch info and I have 157 DAYS UNTIL LAUNCH. WHAT!? Wasn’t this just a year away? Ten months!? Today marks FOUR MONTHS until I get to meet the people I’m already in love with and will soon call family—my squad—at training camp. HOW IS THIS REAL LIFE!?
Today is the second day of classes, and it’s been a surreal few days. On top of my full course load, I’ll be working 30 hours a week, serving on a student org executive board, and trying to live up my last semester at Whitewater. But equally as important as all of those things is preparing for the World Race.
Because this. Just. Got. Real.
What kind of preparation am I talking about!?
I’m talking financial preparation. Fundraising. Letter-writing. Saving up. I’m talking spiritual preparation. Meet with my priest. Pray. Dive into my Bible.I’m talking physical preparation. Working on endurance. Strength. Sleeping more.
And then, I’m talking about the hardest kind of preparation: personal. Trust. Body image issues. Identity.
These next 157 days are going to FLY BY. I’m excited and terrified and overwhelmed and anxious and confident all at once. So now, the fun stuff.
How YOU can help me prepare. (In ALL of these ways!)
Pray for me. I’m looking to build a team of prayer partners before launch!
Collect spare change. In addition to the money I need to raise for the race itself, I also need to save money for gear and other expenses! Your loose change CAN and DOES make a huge difference.
You will get a hand-crafted “Change for Change” jar (if you choose)!
Adopt-A-Box! 23 of my 100 boxes are “sold,” and we have 77 to go! (Picture on my Facebook, or email me to ask what numbers are open!) You choose an open box, numbered 1-100, and make a donation in that amount. Every number helps! Boxes can be combined or split between people. I’m aiming to get all 100 sold!
