When I first started the process of applying for the World Race I knew the journey wouldn’t just be the 11 months I’m out of Canada! From the moment I hit “submit” on my application, my life has been different. I still have the same struggles, but somehow I see God providing and it’s beginning to give me a CRAZY new understanding of Him…I know this is just beginning of a new chapter in my life.

Today there is one story that is fresh in mind, and so encouraging to me!

To start with, I need to mention that I have a very large extended family. [There are nearly 2 dozen in my immediate family alone…so add in cousins and 2nd cousins…it’s HUGE!] Some of us stay connected through Facebook and family parties just about every summer. But we not really that close.

Today I got a message from a family member in regards to an item I’m selling to raise funds. It was paid for promptly online, all was well and good. The message that followed the sale moved me to tears. It made me see God’s hand print on my journey towards the World Race! This family member explained how they had come to know Jesus, gotten involved in a church, and the difference he has made in the family’s life.  This person’s desire to support me, and spread the word about my journey has encouraged me today. If I was not doing the World Race, I wonder if I would have had the opportunity to know the difference that Christ has made in that family! It gives me such joy to know that this family member knows Christ in a real and personal way. And I am honoured they shared a little bit of their story with me.

Sometimes the little conversations are so meaningful and encouraging. I don’t want to forget this one. I know it’s one of hundreds that will happen over the next 18 months.
