39 Years…

I am so proud of my parents, and so honored and privileged
to be called their daughter.

Mom, you always say that the best thing you have ever given
us, your kids, is each other. And that is true. But equally the best thing you
have ever given me is Dad. And Dad the best thing you have ever given me is
Mom.

 

Mom, thank you for respecting Dad. Thank you for serving Dad
every day. Thank you for letting him be who he is, and encouraging him as a
man. Thank you for all the times
you made him ice cold lemonade and brought it to him in the fields when he was
working so hard in the heat. Thank you for making all those apple pies just
because you know he loves them. Thank you for standing behind him in the
decisions he has made. Thank you for supporting him and his interests and
passions. Thank you for still getting butterflies in your stomach when he walks
into the room or when you hear his voice.

 

Dad, thank you for cherishing Mom. I have witnessed that she
is the most precious thing in your life; I can feel it when you look at her.
Thank you for being gentle and loving to her. Thank you for honoring her
femininity, for standing behind her and for defending her. Thank you for
providing for her. Thank you for rubbing her feet because you know she loves
it. Thank you for dropping her off at the door so she doesn’t have to walk in
the cold.

 

Thank you for all the loud smooches you have given each
other.

 

Thank you for waiting for each other to go to bed.

 

Thank you for always putting each other first.

 

I await in excited anticipation for when it will be my privilege
to honor, respect, encourage, love, cherish and serve my husband as you have
modeled to me.
