Let me just say…God amazes me. He truly provides for his children abundantly more than we could even ask.
Yesterday God blew my mind.
A little back information before I begin:
This past month we have been pioneering Croatia, scouting the land, searching for possible ministry contacts and finding out information that would be helpful in deciding if future world race teams would be able to serve here.
We spent the first two weeks at a youth center in Osijek, then we went down to Pula, which is on the coast, for the past 12 days. And for the remainder of our time in Croatia we were to scout out Vinkovci.
My team has been with another team this month, so there have been 14 of us together. For our last 5 days here in Croatia we split up into 4 teams, with one all boys team. I have two other girls on my team. Our small teams were to go our seperate ways.
So…
Our plan was to get dropped off somewhere in Vinkovci, which happened to be in front of a post office. There are seven of us girls together, because we kind of joined up with another small team. So there we were, dropped in front of a post office, with our packs and all we knew to do was pray. So we circled around our packs and prayed. We trusted God that he would be watching out for us. We had no idea where we would go, where we would sleep or what we would eat.
It turns out Vinkovci doesn’t have hostels or campgrounds, and a hotel was way out of our price range. So we set our minds on pitching our tents next to the river in town. On our way to the river, we decided to check with a hotel to see if we could just store our bags so we wouldn’t have to carry them everywhere. They let us purchase a room with a one person rate. We could go there and shower and store our bags, but we could not sleep there, because we could not afford to pay for all seven of us.
So we were in the room, picking out what we should bring with us for the night when a woman and a man came in to work on the heater. We asked the man if he was the boss, but he said no, that he just works here. (The woman told us her boss said we couldn’t sleep in the room) They started asking us questions about who we were and why we were there. We told them we just love Jesus. Then the man told us he was the boss and that we all could sleep in the room for two nights for 430 Kuna total and that we could all have free breakfast in the morning. (Keep in mind there are seven of us, and just for one person it would have costed 230 Kuna a night) ($1=4.85 kuna). I burst in to tears of appreciation and thankfulness, blown away by their generosity. We were ready to sleep outside by the river and now we were given beds to sleep in and a roof over our head. Oh and by the way, there were exactly seven beds in that room, 4 normal ones and 3 pull out beds.
The man and woman left and we were getting our beds together. Then we heard a knock at the door and it was the lady again. She said that three of us could sleep in another room. So for 430 kuna, we get two nights of lodging, two rooms, two days of breakfasts worth 3220 kuna.
I got the best sleep I have gotten yet on the race.
I have a night stand, which I regret ever taking for granted.
And I have a full sized pillow and two comforters.
Oh and I ate an omelet for breakfast, I seriously felt I was eating like a queen.
We were ready and willing to sleep outside, but God had better in mind for us, he gave us an amazing hotel.
He has been showering me in his love. When we really depend on Him for everything, he really does show up. When we put our trust in him, he does provide, more than I could have asked for.
I praise God for his provision, oh how He loves us, his children.
