My name is Martha Kennedy, and I am currently in my final year of undergraduate studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario (Canada). I have two younger brothers named Abram (18) and Caleb (16) and an older sister (23) – who is soon to be married to a lucky man named Darcy! My siblings and I are very close, having grown up in Toronto, then moved to a small town in northern Ontario (Parry Sound), and now currently residing in a small town just east of Toronto (Port Perry). My dad is the senior pastor of St. John’s Presbyterian Church here in town, and my mom is very involved in assisting my dad at the church and supporting each of us “kids” in our schooling, extracurricular activities, and jobs. Oh, I also can’t forget our dog named Beauty and our cat named Cleo – my brother’s would be disappointed if I didn’t include them!
I enjoy sports, especially soccer, and dancing! I also enjoy doing art, and spending time with my immediate family as well as all of my cousins. But being at camp would have to be one of my favourite settings! Throughout my life I have been very blessed to be involved in Knox Camp – a Christian camp run through my old church in downtown Toronto – as a camper, counsellor, and (this past summer) a program director! Knox Camp has been an incredibly influential ministry to me growing up, and has equipped me with the confidence and passion for the journey that Christ has set before me.
Travelling is among many of the things I’ve looked forward to doing after I finish school – and God has placed the World Race in front of me as the perfect opportunity to include my interest of different places around the world with my passion for ministry and excitement to grow in my faith and seek the direction that God has for my life. I look forward to the adventures He has in store for me and my fellow World Racers!
