So yesterday was my first day in the Philippines, and let me tell you, it was an adventure! We landed in Manila at around 10:30 a.m. their time, gathered all of our luggage (getting some curious stares in the process, for sure), and hopped on a bus for a 2 hour ride to the ministry center we will be staying at for Launch. Manila is crazy exciting! The people are friendly, the traffic out of control, and the sights and smells are enough to put a brain on overload in a matter of minutes.
After we arrived yesterday, we ate a quick lunch, threw our luggage inside, and hopped back on yet another bus for a surprise adventure….only this time, the bus had karaoke! Shout out to Sarah, Patricia, and Caroline here, our LA roadtrip really prepped me for this one : ). Nothing like 70 Americans singing “It’s All Coming Back To Me Nowâ€ while weaving in and out of Manila rush-hour traffic!
Our bus took us to the most incredible waterfall I have ever seen (well, the first water fall I have ever seen…but still spectacular!). We wove around the mountains of the Philippines, through shanty towns and rural villages, to find ourselves 2 hours later at such an amazing display of God’s creation. The water was a blue, the foliage a deep green, and the rush of swimming underneath the pounding water of the falls was an experience I will never forget. It truly made me think of that verse in Psalms where David says, “All Your waves and breakers crash over me.â€ I was drowning in God’s liquid love as He poured out peace into my soul and a passion for this beautiful country.
I am very excited for the ministry we will be doing here in the next few days, mainly working at an orphanage and ministering in the 5,000+ shanty village behind this ministry complex. God has blessed our travels, now we pray for blessings over our ministry.
