My first thought was that it would be
really easy to find ministry to do here in Palenque, Mexico. With my
limited Spanish it has proved more difficult. Thankfully the Lord
makes all things good and He has given me the opportunity to see Him
working in many ways. Since arriving in Mexico I have…

… visited a rehabilitation center
for recovering alcoholics to be an encouragement to them. They
were very excited to have us and were patient with our translation.

… helped out with services at Pastor
Noe’s church with singing, testimonies, preaching and dramas. The
church is small, but full of life and passion for the Lord.

… eaten kilos of oatmeal, tortillas
and rice and beans. I’ve decided that the extra subcutaneous
layer of carbs give the mosquitoes a harder time!

… visited a prison to minister to
the prisoners through singing and dramas. At least 20 men came
forward to accept the Lord. It was awesome to see how the Lord was
reaching out to them.

… visited the ruins of the ancient
Mayan city of Palenque. They looked great for being 1500 years
old – not a day over 700!

… gone to English class in the
evenings to help teach and form relationships with the professors
and the students. Sometimes I learn more Spanish than they learn
English, but the prof is very interested in what we are doing.

… visited Agua Azul – one of the
local waterfalls. It was nice to cool off in the water since the
average temperature here is about 104 every day.

… gone to a local Christian-rock
concert to pray for those being ministered to through music. It
was a little loud for me, but some people made decisions to follow
Christ while I was there!

… had great quiet times (and loud
times!) with the Lord. Since we are making our own ministry,
I’ve had extra time to let the Lord minister to me!

I’m excited to be going to a small
village next week from Monday to Wednesday. The rest of my team just
got back from a village last night. It’s good to hear how the Lord
is working there which makes me look forward to my opportunity to go.
